Joining Together to Reduce Duplication

The NCVOA has joined with Nassau County to spearhead some of the initiatives outlined in the Governor's Executive Order on Local Governmental Efficiency and Competitiveness.

Following a presentation to the Executive Board by Arda Nazerian of the County Executive's Office and Liz Botwin of the County Comptroller's Office, the Executive Committee decided to work with the County to strengthen our voice in Albany. While the NCVOA will not have a seat on the Governor's panel, NYCOM will be a participant. We are confident NYCOM will continue to represent the interests of local government.

Unfortunately, time is not our ally since the County's recommendations must be submitted to Albany by June 15, 2007. Given the short window to work within, the Executive Committee discussed several initiatives and decided that the most productive measure would be the following: "Request the State to award funding to local county organizations, including NCVOA and SCVOA, for the purpose of providing full-time dedication to this project."
