As summer comes to an end we tend to change gears and move at a faster pace.  Although most of us continue our village schedules through the summer, the fall always seems to bring with it a flurry of new activities and commitments.  The NCVOA is no exception.  As I mentioned in our last newsletter, we have planned some informative and timely programs for the fall. The unpredictable and raucous weather we have been experiencing makes our September speaker an appropriate one.  Nassau County OEM Commissioner and Malverne Deputy Mayor James Callahan is well versed in emergency management and can answer your questions regarding the recently updated flood maps and how those changes will affect the availability of flood insurance for your residents. If your village has not entered into the National Flood Program, Commissioner Callahan can provide you with information that will allow you to do so effortlessly and effectively.

In light of Commissioner Callahan’s appearance, it is recommended that villages that are to attend invite their Emergency Managers to this important kick off to our fall program.

As always, we encourage all of our members to join us for our monthly meetings.  It is a great opportunity to exchange ideas and meet new village officials, not to mention the outstanding food and service provided by the staff at LaMarmite. I look forward to seeing you all on September 9th.

Nancy
